The Les Corts Mental Hygiene Centre

The Centre d’Higiene Mental Les Corts (CHMLC) [Les Corts Mental Hygiene Centre] is a mental health care organisation which bases its activities on the principles and practices of community mental health. Its missions are the promotion of mental health, prevention of illness, psychiatric health care, rehabilitation and social insertion, as well as continuing education, teaching and research in the sphere of mental health.

Today, the CHMLC carries out its activities through a range of operations which include programmes and community health and social services in the area of mental health.

The CHMLC operates in the Barcelona health care and municipal districts of Les Corts and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, covering a population of nearly 250,000.

The CHMLC has healthcare and social services organisations, a Coordinating Committee, an Administration Department and a Training, Teaching, Research and Publications Department.

The healthcare services are part of the Catalan Health Service (CatSalut) Public Mental Health Network and are as follows: :

• Les Corts and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi Child and Adolescent Mental Health Centre (CSMIJ LC and SSG)
  
• Les Corts Adult Mental Health Centre (CSMA LC)
• Sarrià-Sant Gervasi Adult Mental Health Centre (CSMA SSG)
• Les Corts and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi Adolescent Day Centre (HDA LC and SSG)
• Les Corts Community Rehabilitation Service (SRC LC)
• Sarrià-Sant Gervasi Community Rehabilitation Service (SRC SSG)
• Les Corts and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi Individualised Services Plan (PSI LC and SSG)
  

The social services form part of the Primary Network of Public Social Services of the Institut Català d’Assistència i Serveis Socials (ICASS) [Catalan Health Care and Social Services Institute] and the Community Development Plan for the Districts of Les Corts and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, and are as follows::

• Les Corts Social Club (CS LC)
• Sarrià-Sant Gervasi Social Club (CS SSG)
• Les Corts and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi Pre-Employment Service (SP LC and SSG)
• Les Corts and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi Support for Autonomy in the Home Programme (SP LC and SSG)
  
• “Hands and Time” Programme. Sarrià-Sant Gervasi Community Development Plan and Volunteers Office
  

The Coordinating Committee plans and coordinates all the CHMLC activities, its health and social services, health-care programmes and training, teaching and research activities.

The Administration Department deals with all the administrative activities, human resources, information systems, infrastructures, accounting and legal affairs.

The Teaching, Research and Publications Department has responsibility for continuing education plans, teaching, the development of research and promotion of publications.
